Det er tre ting med Libiya Gaddafi som gjør han en trussel for vesten:
1. Gaddafis innføring av gulldinaren i midt-østen. Forhandlingene var godt i gang før invasjon. Dette ville gjort at USAs petrodollar raskt ville blitt skiftet ut mot gullreserver (dette betyr i grunn at de ville mistet all geo-øknomisk og -politisk makt). Det ville styrket Libiyas posisjon veldig kraftig da de har utrolig mye mer gull og mindre utenlandsgjeld enn de fleste land rundt om i verden.
2. Øknomisk framgang med store fossile vannmengder gjennom prosjektet nevnt over. I ørkenen er vann gull verdt. Bruken av dette ville gitt hele nord-afrika ferskt rent vann i minst 100 år framover i tid og det ville gitt dem muligheten til å utvikle mark til å dyrke og forgrønne Libiya. Dette prosjektet var ikke mer enn 1 år unna gjennomføring. Nå er det stoppet opp.
3. USA har mindre inflytelse under ledelsen til Gaddafi. Dette liker imperealister svært dårlig, de vil heller at folk sulter, tørster og dør enn at noen får mer innflytelse enn dem.
Det vi ser i media er for det meste propaganda slik at folk tror at NATO er "the good guys" med humanitære hensikter og Libiyas sittene ledelse er "the bad guys". Slik jeg ser det er det ikke annet enn Geopolitisk spill fra NATOs side. Nå sier jeg ikke at Gaddafi er verdens edleste person, men slik det ser ut var det egenlig ingen grunn for å gå inn dit til å begynne med.
